We asked our customers for feedback at the beginning of 2024. The result was that with a few exceptions, customers are very satisfied with FRIKE. Particularly appreciated were "friendliness", "clarity of quotations" and "quality of delivery" were rated the highest.

On contrary, the points "is FRIKE innovative" and "Value for money" were rated the lowest! We take this feedback very seriously and endeavour to improve the less rated points.

All in all, however, we can all be extremely proud of ourselves, because the survey only went so well because we are a company with very competent and motivated employees.

As FRIKE donated CHF 30 per completed questionnaire to the Sternschnuppe Foundation, we were able to fulfil a heartfelt wish with the money raised.

The specific beneficiary was a boy called Emilio, who suffers from a heart defect. A few weeks ago, he was allowed to visit the Rega base in Dübendorf and take a sightseeing flight in a helicopter (not from Rega). We are delighted that we were able to fulfil Emilio's heartfelt wish and would like to thank everyone who took part once again.

What is the role of the person with technical responsibility?

«Medicines are regulated by the authorities, so they are subject to high quality requirements and must be safe for patients. The person with technical responsibility has a bridging function between the regulatory requirements in the manufacture of medicinal products and the internal implementation of these regulations. This ensures that regulatory requirements are also applied in the company and that all products meet the high quality requirements. In this context, the person with technical responsibility also acts as an interface between the authorities and the company.»

What tasks does this person typically perform?

The most important requirement – ensuring high product quality – is set out in the GMP guideline. People often assume that these letters must relate to large tomes of information or the endless quantities of documents out there. In fact, the letters stand for Good Manufacturing Practice and describe what this means for medicinal products. GMP is mandatory for the pharmaceutical industry worldwide and must therefore also be integrated into our own processes.

Success with teamwork

A typical task for a person with technical responsibility is to monitor the implementation of this quality standard in the company. Of course, this can only be achieved with the support of a highly qualified and motivated team that actively evaluates, implements and finally archives the large quantities of paper. Another typical task relates to the release of medicinal products. Since the responsibility for correct production lies with the person with technical responsibility, they are in charge of releasing products and thus confirming that production has been carried out according to GMP.

Why did you choose the FRIKE GROUP as your new employer?

«With around 300 employees, the FRIKE GROUP is one of the largest contract manufacturers in Switzerland. I appreciate being part of the set-up of a large manufacturer with a broad product range and lots of interesting products, as it means exciting projects and challenging tasks. At the same time, I like the informal working environment of FRIKE PHARMA AG, as a small company. Thanks to the manageable size of the company, my tasks are very varied and range from team management to the implementation of the GMP guidelines and the release of medicinal products as the person with technical responsibility. That won me over, and I’m looking forward to taking on many new challenges.»

Practical exchange on the production of the bulk among the specialist employees

Expert employees engaged in lively practical exchange on the production of bulk on the fourth training day, on the theme of “Process technologies & plant safety in chemical engineering.

In 2022, around 2,500 different bulks were produced in the mixers at the FRIKE Group’s five plants. Despite wearing protective suits and goggles, bulk mixing specialists are exposed to daily risks ranging from eye burns from acid splashes to fire and explosion hazards from flammable solvents. Chemicals are largely mixed by hand in the mixer, which requires the utmost precision and concentration. Beyond the legal regulations and guidelines for good practice in bulk production, the management of the FRIKE GROUP has set itself the goal of offering employees the highest standards in occupational health and safety.

Knowledge minimizes risks

Prevention is always better than intervention. With that in mind, the FRIKE Academy has launched an in-house specialist training course for production employees, focusing on “Safety & specialist knowledge in chemical engineering”. The 18-month advanced training program is carried out in cooperation with aprentas (a training association for basic and further training in scientific, technical and commercial professions) and is structured in three stages – Creating Foundations, Deepening Knowledge and Transferring Knowledge – each of which have four modules. The course days are led by Monika Hüppeler, a qualified chemist and aprentas safety engineer, who is responsible for the training. The further training program hones employees’ specialist knowledge and minimizes health risks as a preventive measure. Furthermore, the cross-location exchange of practical experience between producers also promotes a sense of unity within the Group and provides an opportunity to benefit from the experience of other employees.

FRIKE Academy

The FRIKE Academy encompasses the entire training and development concept for the FRIKE GROUP’s 300 or so employees. We offer apprenticeships in logistics, management training for executives, general employee training and specific specialist training such as further training for our bulk producers and galenics.
